Scholarships are made possible through the fundraising efforts of the Santa Monica Science Magnet. Scholarship amounts will be determined (up to 50%) by the Science Magnet Board and based on the financial needs of the student. Please note that scholarship funds also depend on availability and may be different from year to year.
Upon approval of the application, a payment schedule will be set up, and must be honored. If payments are not received by the due dates established then the scholarship offer will be taken away. Students not awarded a scholarship may also set up a payment plan. Payments must be completed by March 1 st unless otherwise noted by the board.
In addition, scholarship families will be responsible for completing community service hours, for the science magnet, totaling 1 hour for every $25 awarded. Hours must be logged and signed by a science teacher on a given community service card.
Scholarship students are expected to be role models for other students. Students must abide by all John Adams Middle School rules. Consequences for poor behavior can include those listed in the student handbook and cancellation of the scholarship.
