Ray Avedian is a native Californian. Born in Glendale, CA he graduated from UCLA with a BA in philosophy. He went on to get his teaching degree in Science from USC. Ray began working at John Adams in 1998. His classroom is home to many creatures, currently some residents include a newt, a gecko, a rabbit and a few praying mantis. Mr. Avedian can often be seen biking to and from the campus. His interests outside of school include golf, camping, video games and the occasional poker game.

Mr. Brown grew up in Spokane, Washington where he graduated from Gonzaga Prep High School. He moved to Los Angeles to attend Loyola Marymount University. He received his Bachelor's of Science in Biology, a Masters Degree in Environmental Science, and his teaching credential all from LMU. Mr. Brown's interests include athletics (formally baseball and basketball and currently swimming and yoga). He also enjoys performing community service, especially with the National Junior Honor Society club at JAMS. .Mr. Brown lives in Westchester with his wife, a counselor for the Inglewood Unified School District, and his two cats. The Brown's daughter is also a science teacher, who works for the Inglewood School District.
   
Ms. Jurewicz

Ms. Jurewicz grew up in Washington, Michigan a small town near Detroit. She majored in psychology at the University of Michigan and went on to earn her teacher's certification from Eastern Michigan University. She recently moved to Santa Monica and in her free time she enjoys exploring her new environment, reading, spending time with friends, and watching Michigan football.

Mrs. Levin grew up in Southern California. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from UCLA and a Master's degree in Education from Pepperdine University. Her hobbies include world travel to various countries and continents, rollerblading, kickboxing, hiking, and general exploration.

Joel Post comes to the Science Magnet after teaching in the Math Department for many years. Born in New York City his family uprooted him in elementary school to come and live in Los Angeles. He graduated from UCLA with a BA in Zoology then went on to receive a Masters Degree in Education from USC. This will be his 15 th year as a teacher at John Adams. Some of his interests include playing tennis and racquetball, reading and spending time with his wife and son.

Julie Yoffy was born and raised in Sterling Heights, Michigan. She moved to California after graduating from the University of Michigan in 2002 with a BA in Education with a science major and math minor. This is her 4 th year at John Adams and her 7 th year teaching. Some of her outside interests include playing volleyball, reading and hanging out with her dog Bailey.
