The science magnet programs offers a one week long summer institute where students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of hands-on activities including ones that are field based. All students are expected to attend the summer institute. However, we understand that vacation plans may have been pre-arranged. If your child cannot attend, you must send a letter to your child’s science teacher explaining why your child will be absent by the end of May prior to leaving for summer vacation. Your child will be expected to complete an alternative assignment while on vacation and will be expected to complete additional seminars during the first six weeks of school. Those who miss the summer institute and do not complete the alternative assignment risk being placed on probation at the start of the school year.
