Trips
Each year students have the opportunity to spend anywhere from a day to a week someplace in California. Typically, 7 th graders attend the Yosemite Institute for one week (January) and 8 th graders attend Astro Camp for three days (February). The cost for the Yosemite Institute is anticipated to be around $595. The expected cost for Astro Camp is around $220. A deposit is required in the beginning of October. Payment plans and scholarships are available (applications required). More details will be given out at the Science Magnet meeting at the end of September. The Yosemite and Astrocamp trips are designated for students. However, the district requires that we have adult supervision for every twelve students. Each year chaperones for these trips are needed. Click the links to the left (under trips) for more information about these trips as well as how to apply to be a chaperone.
Families can join us on fun educational trips as well. These trips last anywhere between a day to three days. Day trips include trips to see one of California's major fault zones and a course on wilderness survial. We also camp at Morro Bay (in fall) and Joshua Tree or Anza Borrego (in spring).

We are also open to new ideas. Please contact your science teacher if you have an interest in planning another trip or would like to help organize the current trips.
